For those looking for a solid round of golf on a traditional course, look no further than Brora Golf Club,
in the highlands of Scotland. Designed the James Braid, very little has changed on this course since 1923. At this
Scottish course you will find 18 holes of traditional links golf spread over 194 acres. Here it is all about history and
tradition.
Uncommon on American courses, Brora Golf Club was created from bent grass and beach sand, burn water and
gorse, a gorgeous flower that blankets the course in yellow during May. There is even an old railway that comes into play
from the 10th tee.
At 6,100 yards there is plenty of opportunity for your driver but still enough shots where knowledgeable club selection
is a must. The front 9 holes the follow Kintradwell Bay perfectly with a backdrop of the Sutherland foothills creating for
some breathtaking views of the Scottish North Country.
The back nine at Brora Golf Club offer plenty of opportunities for out of bound penalties as you meander
along the fence line of the property. The 13th hole, one of two short holes at Brora, you will wind back towards the
sea as you progress. You finish off on 18 containing all the concerns of protecting a score against a bunkered green,
a two hundred yard carry away and under the scrutiny of the clubhouse windows.
While other courses may be more glamorous, for the true Scottish golf experience you have to play
Brora Golf Club in the highlands of Scotland.
