EUROPEAN TOUR: BMW Asian Open
Having the lead from the first round, French golfer Raphael Jacquelin entered the final round just 1 ahead and after
going out in 3 under-par 33, he had moved 4 clear of the field. It looked like he had a smooth ride and was on his way to an
easy victory, but it was at this point that the weather changed for the worse and heavy rain and strong winds started to blow
all the players quite off course. As every one struggled, Jacquelin started to drop shots, but so were the rest. Jacquelin made
4 bogeys on the back nine to finish at 10 under-par 278, but that was still good enough to claim a 2 stroke victory over
Denmark golfer Soren Kjeldsen.
PGA TOUR: Zurich Classic of New Orleans
Nick Watney came into the final round with a 2 stroke lead, but that lead quickly went after his first few holes. After
another bogey at the 10th, Watney was now 1 shot back of Ken Duke, but he made birdie at the par 5 11th to tie Duke and attempt
to regain the lead. Watney did this with a birdie at the tough par 3 14th, as Duke made bogey on the hole creating a 2 shot
swing in Watney's favor. Watney was still 2 clear playing the last and was able to make par to claim his first win on the PGA
Tour with a 15 under-par 273 total and a 3 shot victory over Duke.
CHAMPIONS TOUR: Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf
During a final round where a number of players had a chance for victory but none seemed to want it, it came down to the final
hole to decide who got the winner's cheque. Jay Haas had started the final round with the lead, but had at one point found
himself 4 back with 8 to play. With Tom Kite already in the clubhouse on 7 under-par 207 total, Haas came to the last needing
to make par to force extra holes. He found the greenside bunker with his approach, but then played a superb shot to within a
foot of the hole and tapped in for par to force a play-off. Back to the 18th they went and when Kite found the green some 56
feet from the hole and Haas had hit his approach through the green, it looked like it might be Kite's day. Haas though hit a
superb pitch to 3 feet and Kite could only get his first putt to within 5 feet. Kite then lipped out with his second putt,
leaving Haas with a 3 footer to retain his title and he duly converted it for victory.
EUROPEAN CHALLENGE TOUR: Tessali-Metaponto Open di Puglia e Basilicata
Bogeys at the 12th and 14th holes looked to have been very costly for overnight leader Michael Hoey, but the man from Northern
Ireland kept it going and found himself needing to birdie the last to tie Welshman Liam Bond on 13 under-par 272. Hoey found
the green with his approach and then rolled in a difficult 12 foot downhill putt to force extra holes. Back to 18 they went and
both men found the putting surface some 20 feet from the hole. Bond was first to go and narrowly missed. Hoey now had a chance
for victory and like moments before he rolled in his birdie putt to claim victory.
NATIONWIDE TOUR: Athens Regional Foundation Classic
WScotland's Martin Laird had led from the very first round and found himself still 3 clear of the field as he stood on the
15th tee in the final round. A straight forward victory looked on the cards, but as we all know golf is never that easy and
after bogeys on the 15th and 16th holes, Laird now found himself in a 3 way tie for the lead with American's Jeremy Anderson
and Justin Bolli. Laird was still tied with them both as he played the last, but held his nerve on the par 5 18th and made a
superb birdie to finish on 16 under-par 272 and clinch a 1 stroke victory and his maiden Nationwide Tour title.
