EUROPEAN TOUR: Quinn Direct British Masters
Sweden's Johan Edfors claimed his second win on the European Tour with a 1 shot victory over England's Gary Emerson,
Scotland's Stephen Gallacher and fellow Swede Jarmo Sandelin. On a rollercoaster final day overnight leader Paul
Casey was 3 clear as he reached the 9th but a run of bogey, double bogey, bogey brought the rest of the field back
into it and it was Edfors that took his chance. A birdie at the par 5 15th gave him the lead and when he rolled in
another birdie at the 17th he was 2 clear. Edfors then 3 putted the 18th to fall back to 11 under-par 277 and gave
the final group of Casey and Michael Campbell a chance to tie but neither could make birdie and both bogeyed the
final hole to leave Edfors with the victory.
PGA TOUR: EDS Byron Nelson Championship
American Brett Wetterich parred the final hole to win by a single shot from South African Trevor Immelman and
claim his maiden PGA Tour win. After a poor start to the final round Wetterich was 3 back of the lead going into
the final 9 holes but a birdie at the 10th as Immelman bogeyed the same hole reduced that lead to one. As Wetterich
made pars Immelman started to drop shots and bogeys at the 12th and 15th gave Wetterich a 1 shot lead. As they came
to the 18th Wetterich was still 1 clear and after he found the fairway with his tee shot and Immelman hit his into
the water it looked all over. Immelman though after taking his penalty drop hit a great approach to 6 feet to keep
the pressure on Wetterich but the American held his nerve and tapped in for par and a winning 12 under-par 268 total.
LPGA TOUR: Michelob ULTRA Open
Karrie Webb coasted to a 7 stroke victory over Lorena Ochoa and Hee-Won Han and her second win of the year. Webb
started the final round 5 clear and following a weather delay she quickly set about an easy victory with a birdie
at the par 5 third and all that was left to find out was who would finish second. As Webb coasted home Ochoa looked
to have taken the runners-up spot before a bogey on the final hole left her tied with Han. Webb finished on 14
under-par 270 and moved to the top of the Order of Merit as well.
CHAMPIONS TOUR: The Boeing Championship
Bobby Wadkins led from start to finish edging out a chasing Raymond Floyd by a single shot. Wadkins started the
day with a 4 shot lead, but Floyd who was playing over an hour in front of the leader, made 5 straight birdies on
the back nine to move 2 clear. The run was ended when he bogeyed the 16th and as Wadkins birdied the 10th the pair
were tied for the lead. They were still tied when Wadkins reached the 17th but Wadkins was able to convert his 7
foot birdie putt to regain the lead and a safe par at the 18th gave Wadkins a 10 under-par 203 total and the
winner's cheque.
EUROPEAN CHALLENGE TOUR: Parco di Monza Challenge
Spain's Alvaro Salto made a superb up and down on the final hole to claim a 2 shot victory over England's Gareth
Davies. Salto had started the day 1 clear of Davies and after the both had battled all day back and forth, Salto
came to the final hole still 1 clear of his playing partner. Both men found the greenside bunker with their
approach shots, but Salto found a downhill lie next to the edge of the bunker. The young Spaniard with one foot
outside of the bunker produced an amazing shot to around 6 feet as Davies hit his bunker shot to just inside Salto
to keep the pressure on. Salto though was able to convert his par putt to finish on 13 under-par 271 and victory
before Davies missed his effort.
NATIONWIDE TOUR: Rheem Classic
Darron Stiles parred the first extra hole to beat Michael Putnam and earn his 4th Nationwide Tour title. Stiles had
started the final round 4 clear, but his lead quickly disappeared and he eventually came to the 18th one shot
behind Putnam. Putnam hit his approach over the green and was unable to get up and down for par and both men had
finished on 13 under-par 267 and a play-off was required. At the first extra hole both men found sand with their
approach shots. Putnam hit his bunker shot to around 10 feet before Stiles blasted out to 3 feet. Again Putnam was
unable to convert his par putt before Stiles rolled his 3 footer in for victory number four.
