EUROPEAN TOUR: BMW PGA Championship
In a tournament with all the seasons in one event, the final round was played in heavy rain and in the tough conditions the third round leaders Paul Broadhurst and Ross Fisher failed to break 80. That let the rest of the field back in and when Vijay Singh posted 7-under with a final round 66 early on it looked as if that could be good enough. Justin Rose, Richard Sterne and 2003 champion Anders Hansen were all tied at 7-under with 2 holes to go. Hansen was first to reach 8-under with a great pitch and putt at the last for birdie, just as Sterne lipped out for birdie at 17. Behind him Rose knew he too had to get up and down from around 100 yards at the last to force a playoff and an exquisite wedge that he spun back to a foot did the trick. Sterne failed to birdie the last after a poor driver and so Hansen and Rose headed back to play the 18th again. Both reached the green in 3 and Hansen struck the first blow by holing from 20 feet to leave Justin a 15 footer to continue the playoff. However it was not to be as his putt drifted left and to give Hansen his second tour win, both of which are PGA titles.

PGA TOUR: Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial
In an event delayed by rain, Rory Sabbatini, Bernhard Langer, Jim Furyk and Scott Verplank headed into the final round tied for the lead. As Verplank fell away Sabbatini took the lead with birdies at 11 and 13 as Langer made bogey at 12. However he was caught by Furyk when he birdied 16 and by Langer who made it a three way play-off thanks to a birdie at 17. Back down 18 they went and all three players hit the green. After Furyk had missed from around 40 feet, Sabbatini seized the moment and holed from 15 feet for birdie leaving Langer to hole from 10 feet for the half. Unfortunately for the German playing on a sponsor’s invite, he missed handing the outspoken South African his 4th PGA tour title.

LPGA TOUR: LPGA Corning Classic
South Korean Young Kim shot a final round 68 to win by 3 from Mi Hyun Kim and Paula Creamer, with In-Kyung Kim tied for fourth. Young Kim looked to have it all wrapped up with four birdies in her first 7 holes to add to her over night one shot lead. However 2 bogeys saw her fall behind Creamer and Mi Hyun Kim until she birdied the par-5 14th to get back into a tie for the lead as Creamer and Hyun Kim both made bogey. Another birdie at 17th saw Young Kim take the title and claim her first win on the LPGA Tour.

EUROPEAN SENIORS/CHAMPIONS TOUR: US Senior PGA Championship
The Champions Tour oldest major had strong winds blowing off the sea in the first two days at Kiawah Island and as scores rose, it was not surprising to see wind specialists Eduardo Romero and Nick Price near the top of the leaderboard with another Zimbabwean Dennis Watson. Romero lead going into the final round by 1, but it could have been more as he bogied the last 2 holes on Saturday. The weather was kinder on Sunday as Romero maintained his lead by 1 from Watson, with Price 3 shots further back, but everything was to change at the par-3 14th. Watson hit his tee shot to 12 feet to set up a birdie whilst Romero pulled his tee shot into a waste bunker where he had to take a drop en route to a double bogey 5. That 3 shots swing gave Watson the lead and a birdie at the par-5 16th to Romero’s par gave Watson a two shot lead which he held onto for his first Senior Tour victory.

EUROPEAN CHALLENGE TOUR: Open Mahou de Madrid
Due to bad weather all week the event was reduced to 54 holes, but that did not stop the players producing some excellent golf. Probably feeling at home in the conditions, England’s Ben Mason snatched the title thanks to a chip-in for birdie at the 17th hole to win by a shot from fellow countryman Tim Milford and local favourite Alvaro Velasco. The win was Mason’s first on the challenge tour and lifts him into the top ten on the order of merit as he tries to regain his European Tour card for 2008.

NATIONWIDE TOUR: Melwood Prince George's County Open
American Paul Claxton was tied for the lead with South African Jaco Van Zyl going into the final round, but played superbly in a bogey free final round of 67 to pip Van Zyl and fast finishing James Driscoll by one shot. Van Zyl had a chance to force a playoff after chipping in at 15 to tie the lead, but he failed to follow Claxton in for birdie at 17 and then missed from 25 feet at the last. It was Claxton’s second win on the Nationwide Tour since he joined in 1995.

LADIES EUROPEAN TOUR: BMW Ladies Italian Open
England’s Trish Johnson shot a final round six under par 66 to win by a shot from German Bettina Hauert. Hauert carded a course record 62 in the last round to post a clubhouse target of 14 under-par 274 that looked as if no-one could match. Johnson had made the turn at 2-under for her round and 13 under-par, but a bogey at 15 from the sand looked to have killed her chances as she dropped back to 12-under. However she rallied brilliantly to birdie the last three holes to deny Hauert her second win in a row.
