Tour Results - September 11, 2006
EUROPEAN TOUR: Omega European Masters
Welsh golfer Bradley Dredge cruised to an eight shot victory over German golfer Marcel Siem and Italian golfer
Francesco Molinari to claim his first win on the European Tour since 2003. Dredge had started the day 2 clear and
after birdies on the first 3 holes had all but won the event. Further birdies came at the 10th and 11th to increase
his lead even more and despite a bogey at the 16th, Dredge finished on 17 under-par 267 and the largest winning
margin on Tour this year.
PGA TOUR: Bell Canadian Open
Jim Furyk came from 2 shots back at the start on the day to claim a 1 shot victory over Brad Bryant after a superb
final round of 5 under-par 65, the lowest of the day, to finish on a winning 14 under-par 266 total. Furyk tied for
the lead with a birdie at the 10th and when he rolled in a 15 footer on the long par 3 13th he was 2 clear. A
further birdie came at the par 5 17th to keep his lead at 2 shots as Bryant closed in after chipping in on the 14th.
Furyk holed from 5 feet for par at the 18th as Bryant birdied the 17th to close to within 1 shot again but he was
unable to convert from 60 feet at the last to force a play-off.
LPGA TOUR: John Q Hammons Hotel Classic
It was Cristie Kerr's turn to come from behind to beat Annika Sorenstam by 2 shots and claim her third win on the
LPGA Tour this year. Last week Annika had came from behind to pip Kerr for the win, but the roles were reversed this
week as Kerr came from 2 shots back with 8 to play to claim victory. Kerr birdied the 11th and 12th holes to tie
Sorenstam before taking the lead for good when she holed from 30 feet for a birdie 2 at the 15th. Kerr increased her
lead with another birdie at the difficult 17th before a safe par on the 18th gave her victory with a 14 under-par
199 total.
CHAMPIONS TOUR: Georgia-Pacific Grand Champions Championship
Jay Sigel birdied 4 holes on the front 9, and then held off a late charge from Mike McCullough to claim a 2 shot
victory. Sigel had moved 4 clear with 9 to play after his superb front 9 before McCullough made his move with 4
birdies of his own but he never got closer than 2 shots as Sigel finished on 10 under-par 134 to claim the win.
NATIONWIDE TOUR: Envirocare Utah Classic
After 15 years on many different tours, Craig Kanada finally claimed his first professional victory with a 1 shot
win over Bryce Molder, Michael Putnam, Gavin Coles and Ken Duke. Kanada had started the day 3 back of Molder, but
slowly clawed his way into contention before holing from 40 feet for a birdie 2 at the par 3 15th to take the lead
for good. Still one clear playing the last Kanada was able to 2 putt from 25 feet for par to finish on 16 under-par
272 and claim his maiden victory.
EUROPEAN SENIORS TOUR: European Senior Masters
Carl Mason birdied 2 of the last 3 holes to claim a 2 shot victory over Argentina's Horacio Carbonetti. Mason had
looked like he was on his way to a comfortable victory after he reached the turn in 30 for a 4 shot lead. By the
time he had reached the 16th tee his lead was gone and he was 1 back of Carbonetti. Mason pulled himself together
and made birdie at the 16th before Carbonetti found trouble at the 17th and made bogey. Mason rounded things off in
style with a birdie at the final hole to finish on a winning 7 under-par 209 total.
